- 21/24 obstacles (Vacuum Wars)
- 100 days per 3.2 L bag
01Best overall
Dreame L60 Ultra PE
The best all-round robot for a shedding pet right now: top-tier carpet, pet hair and tangle results, camera-based avoidance and a hot-wash dock below the flagship class. Dried-stain mopping and threshold climbing are its weak spots.
Pick it ifCarpeted or mixed-floor homes with a shedding dog or cat and mostly flush thresholds between rooms
Skip it ifHomes with raised thresholds above about 0.8 in, kitchens with dried-on spills, or buyers who might pick up the cheaper L60 Ultra FE by mistake
What stands out
- Vacuum Wars (Aug 28, 2026): 94 percent carpet deep clean, the second-highest score in its dataset, with 100 percent flattened pet hair and 0 percent hair wrap
- AI camera with 3D structured light avoided 21 of 24 objects in Vacuum Wars' course against a 16 average
- Dock empties into a 3.2 L bag rated for up to 100 days, washes the pads at 212°F, dries them with hot air and doses detergent
Flaws to know
- Dried-stain mopping scored 85 against a 108 average, with very low water output

03Best premium
Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete
The premium pick for pet owners who want the best documented test record and the longest maintenance intervals. Watch the water tank and keep it away from loose rugs.
Pick it ifPet households with hard floors, low furniture and raised thresholds that want the dock to handle dust, detergent and odor for months at a time
Skip it ifHomes with loose or fringed rugs, very large floor plans on one charge, or anyone who does not want to refill a water tank every couple of runs
What stands out
- Vacuum Wars (Aug 28, 2026): 89 percent carpet deep clean, 100 percent pet hair, 0 percent hair wrap, 22 of 24 obstacles avoided
- 3.13 in tall with the LiDAR retracted and rated for 45 mm single and 88 mm two-step thresholds; Vacuum Wars cleared a 51 mm step
- Dock holds a 3.2 L bag rated for 100 days and two detergent tanks, one for a pet-odor formula
Flaws to know
- Android Authority found the clean-water tank ran dry after roughly 600 sq ft and the magnetic pads popped off around rugs
- Navigation efficiency (0.64 sq m per minute) and coverage per charge (about 950 sq ft) are below Vacuum Wars' averages, and the onboard bin is only 235 mL
Why it made the list. The only pick whose dock has a second detergent tank for a pet-odor formula, plus 212°F pad washing, a 100-day bag, 100 percent pet hair, 0 percent wrap and 22 of 24 obstacles at Vacuum Wars. At 3.13 in it reaches under low sofas where hair drifts; the water tank needs frequent refills.

04Best for heavy shedders
eufy Omni E25
The robot to buy when the volume of fur is the problem: two labs found it handled pet hair without tangling, and its camera steered around most pet messes. It is tall, climbs only low thresholds and leaves fine sand in deep carpet.
Pick it ifHomes with one or more heavy-shedding dogs or cats, low-pile carpet and hard floors, and furniture with at least 4.5 in of clearance
Skip it ifLow sofas and beds, raised thresholds, or deep carpet where fine grit is the main problem
What stands out
- Vacuum Wars: 93 percent flattened pet hair and 0 percent hair wrap, against 81 and 38 percent averages at the time of its review
- TechGearLab scored it 8.8 of 10 for pet hair and found most of the fur in the bin rather than on the brush
- RGB camera avoided 21 of 24 objects at Vacuum Wars, and TechGearLab saw it avoid most pet accidents
- Roller mop is fed clean water as it works; the dock empties into a 3 L bag, washes and hot-air dries the roller and doses detergent
Flaws to know
- About 4.3 in tall and rated for 21 mm thresholds
- TechGearLab found fine sand left deep in carpet and measured 80.5 dB while the dock empties
- The roller does not extend to baseboards, and early units had a water-tank leak that has since been fixed
Why it made the list. TechGearLab's pick for heavily shedding pets, and the only robot here that two labs both rate highly on fur: 0 percent wrap and 93 percent pet hair at Vacuum Wars, 8.8 of 10 at TechGearLab. It has the largest bin of the camera-equipped picks (300 mL) and steered around most pet accidents, but it is 4.3 in tall and leaves fine grit in deep carpet.
All specs (9)
- Suction

How to choose a robot vacuum for pet hair
A robot that is good for pets does four things well: it keeps hair off its own brush, lifts fur out of carpet, avoids what a pet leaves on the floor, and stores a season of shedding without you. The table puts the four picks side by side; the sections below explain each column.
| Model | Pet hair (Vacuum Wars) | Hair wrap (Vacuum Wars) | Carpet deep clean (Vacuum Wars) | Obstacles avoided (of 24) | Main brush | Onboard bin / dock bag | Odor control in the dock |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Dreame L60 Ultra PE | 100% | 0% | 94% | 21 | Two angled rollers, bristle-and-rubber plus TPU rubber | 250 mL / 3.2 L, up to 100 days | 212°F pad wash, hot-air drying, detergent |
| Roborock Q10 S5+ | 96% | 0% | 96% | 6 | JawScrapers comb brush | 350 mL / 2.7 L, up to 7 weeks | None; the pad is rinsed by hand |
| Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete | 100% | 0% | 89% | 22 | HyperStream DuoBrush 2.0 with retractable pressure plate | 235 mL / 3.2 L, up to 100 days | 212°F pad wash, hot air, pet-odor detergent tank |
| eufy Omni E25 | 93% | 0% | 88% | 21 | DuoSpiral detangle brushes | 300 mL / 3 L, 60 to 75 days | Roller wash, hot-air drying, detergent |
01Hair wrap decides how often you reach for scissors
Vacuum Wars' tangle test spreads one gram of 7-inch hair and weighs how much ends up wound around the brush. In its August 2026 reviews the average robot wrapped 26 percent; older reviews used a 38 percent average. All four picks recorded zero.
Brush material explains part of that. Bristle rollers dig into carpet but give hair something to grip; all-rubber rollers shed hair more easily but agitate carpet less. Most pet-focused robots now combine the two or add a mechanism. Dreame angles two rollers so hair travels to one end and into the suction duct; the X60 adds a plate that retracts to release trapped hair; Roborock uses a comb; eufy uses a split, spiral DuoSpiral design.
The name on the brush is not a guarantee. The Roborock Q7 M5+, sold with the same JawScrapers brush name as our budget pick, wrapped 43 percent at Vacuum Wars. The blade-equipped TriCut brush on the Dreame L60 Ultra FE wrapped 7 percent, and Shark's self-cleaning brushroll on the PowerDetect UV Reveal wrapped 29 percent. Trust the measured result.
02Pet hair and carpet deep cleaning are separate tests
Vacuum Wars' pet-hair test spreads two grams of 2.5-inch pet hair on carpet and measures what is left after two runs; its deep-clean test measures embedded sand. The two Dreames picked up all of the pet hair, the Q10 S5+ 96 percent and the E25 93 percent. On sand the Q10 S5+ scored 96 percent, tied for the site's best, ahead of the L60 PE at 94, the X60 at 89 and the E25 at 88. TechGearLab measured 86 percent pet-hair pickup for the E25 and found fine sand left in the weave. Suction ratings do not predict any of this: the 10,000 Pa Roborock out-cleaned the 20,000 Pa eufy and the 35,000 Pa X60 on sand.
03Pet messes and obstacle avoidance
A robot that drives through a pet accident spreads it across every room it cleans next. The three camera-equipped picks avoided 21 or 22 of Vacuum Wars' 24 objects against an average of about 16. TechGearLab found the E25 steered around most pet accidents, and robot-review.com notes that its camera recognizes solid waste but not liquid. The Q10 S5+ uses structured light only, scored 6 of 24, and robot-review.com found it cannot detect pet waste. With a puppy or a sick pet, schedule runs when someone is home and draw no-go zones around the litter box and feeding area. If the floor is also full of toys and cables, the eufy Omni S2 on our robot vacuum and mop combos list avoided all 24 objects, though it picked up 88.5 percent of pet hair.
04Bin and bag capacity in shedding season
Two containers matter. The onboard bin fills during a run: 235 mL on the X60, 250 mL on the L60 PE, 300 mL on the E25 and 350 mL on the Q10 S5+. The dock bag sets how often you touch the station. Manufacturer ratings run from about seven weeks for the Roborock to 100 days for both Dreames, and they assume a typical home; a double-coated dog in spring can halve them. The dock also has to pull the hair out: one reviewer, Just a Dad Approved, reported the L60 PE's dock struggling to empty heavy loads of hair. Bags seal dander in when you change them, which is kinder to allergy sufferers than tipping a bagless bin. Our robot vacuum docks explained guide covers the tiers and what the consumables add up to.
05Odor handling
In a pet home much of the smell comes from damp mop pads, the dock's dirty-water tray and a full bag. Both Dreames wash their pads in 212°F water and dry them with hot air, and the X60 alone carries a second detergent tank for a pet-odor formula. The E25 washes its roller and dries it with hot air, but eufy makes no heated-wash claim. The Q10 S5+ dock only empties the bin, so its mop pad goes into your sink.
06Height and thresholds
Hair drifts under sofas and beds. The X60 retracts its LiDAR to 3.13 in, the Q10 S5+ is 3.9 in and the E25 measured 4.3 in at TechGearLab. Thresholds favor the X60, rated for 45 mm; the L60 PE is rated for 22 mm and failed a 25 mm step at Vacuum Wars, and the Q10 S5+ and E25 are rated for about 20 mm.
What we left out and why
Models we considered, and why each one did not make the list.
Ecovacs Deebot T80S Omni, T90 Pro Omni, X12 OmniCyclone and the Yeedi S20 Infinity
All posted 100 percent pet hair and 0 percent wrap at Vacuum Wars. In August 2024 TechCrunch reported a Bluetooth flaw, shown by security researchers, that let an attacker take over Ecovacs robots and reach the camera and microphone. Yeedi is an Ecovacs group brand, and we list neither.
Shark PowerDetect UV Reveal (RV3020XE)
Strong pickup at Vacuum Wars (91.5 percent pet hair, 88 percent carpet) and a bagless dock rated for 60 days, but 29 percent hair wrap, above the 26 percent average, and water use up to five times the average. Its predecessor, the PowerDetect NeverTouch Pro, wrapped 26 percent.
Dreame L60 Pro Ultra
93.5 percent pet hair, 0 percent wrap, 90 percent carpet and 22 of 24 obstacles, with better threshold climbing. It trails the PE on hair and carpet in a higher price class; buy it if you have raised thresholds.
Dreame L60 Ultra FE
Same family name, very different robot: 51 percent pet hair and 2 of 24 obstacles at Vacuum Wars.
Roborock Saros 20
0 percent wrap, 89 percent carpet and a record 57 mm threshold climb, but 88 percent pet hair, 17 of 24 obstacles, and a 260 mL bin that Vacuum Wars flags for pet-heavy homes.
Narwal Flow 2
0 percent wrap and 20 of 24 obstacles, but 88 percent pet hair, weak dried-stain mopping and reported app reliability problems.
MOVA V70 Ultra Complete
First on Vacuum Wars' Top 20, but new to the US with no support record, and its pet-hair results were not listed on the site's pet ranking when we checked.
iRobot Roomba
iRobot filed for Chapter 11 on December 14, 2025. The last Roomba Vacuum Wars reviewed, the Plus 405 Combo, picked up 50 percent of pet hair.
Frequently asked questions
Rubber or bristle brush for pet hair?
A mix, or a design with an anti-tangle mechanism, and a measured wrap result near zero. All four picks scored 0 percent; the brush name alone tells you little.
Will a robot vacuum avoid dog poop?
The three camera-equipped picks give you the best chance. TechGearLab saw the E25 avoid most pet accidents, robot-review.com notes its camera does not detect liquid ones, and no robot here is a guarantee. The Q10 S5+ cannot see pet waste at all.
How often will I change the dock bag with a shedding dog?
Plan on well under the rated interval in shedding season. The 100-day Dreame bags give you the most margin; the Roborock's seven-week rating gives the least.
Does suction in pascals matter for pet hair?
Not much. Measured pickup and wrap depend more on brush design and sealing; on Vacuum Wars' carpet test the 10,000 Pa Q10 S5+ out-cleaned robots rated at two to three and a half times its suction.
Should I wait for a sale?
All three brands discount around Prime Big Deal Days (October 6-7, 2026) and Black Friday (November 27, 2026). For more low-cost self-emptying options, see our budget self-emptying robot vacuums.
How we chose
We compared robot vacuums for homes with shedding dogs and cats on the measurements that matter for fur: hair wrap on the brush, pet hair and embedded-dirt pickup on carpet, avoidance of pet messes, and how long the dock can hold a shedding season. The short answer: the Dreame L60 Ultra PE has the best combination of results, the Roborock Q10 S5+ matches it on carpet in a much lower price class, the Dreame X60 Max Ultra Complete adds odor control and a lower body, and the eufy Omni E25 is the pick for heavy shedders.
We started from Vacuum Wars' pet-hair ranking (updated September 23, 2026) and Top 20 (September 24, 2026) and TechGearLab's pet-hair scores, then kept only robots with a self-empty dock and a published hair-wrap result of zero. We ranked them on measured wrap, flattened pet hair, carpet deep cleaning and obstacle scores, then on onboard bin and bag capacity and dock odor features. We have not used these robots; every claim is attributed to a named test, a named reviewer or a spec sheet. Ecovacs and its Yeedi brand were excluded on security grounds, and Shark and iRobot on their test records.
