Who it's for
The NS-ZCC10 is the rice cooker for a household that makes Japanese-style white or sushi rice several times a week and wants to buy once. It is the model the r/BuyItForLife threads collected in Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker's Reddit roundup treat as the default answer, and Reviewed's October 2025 test found it produced fluffy, consistent batches of short-grain white, brown and jasmine rice. On our rice cooker list it is the best overall pick because it does the core job as well as anything short of induction and outlasts the budget cookers.
It is not the cooker for someone who wants rice in twenty minutes on a weeknight, and it has no GABA brown or jasmine menu.
What stands out
Control first. Neuro Fuzzy is Zojirushi's name for its micom program: a microcomputer reads the pan temperature and adjusts power and time through soak, boil, steam and rest phases. The pan is spherical and the heater is shaped to match, which Zojirushi says spreads heat through the rice rather than concentrating it at the bottom. The practical result, in Reviewed's test and in the owner reports the roundup aggregates, is rice that comes out the same way regardless of how much you cook or how cold the water was.
The menu covers what a Japanese kitchen needs: white rice at regular, softer or harder texture, sushi, mixed for grains cooked with white rice, porridge, sweet rice, semi-brown for lightly milled rice, brown, rinse-free for musenmai and a quick setting. The semi-brown and rinse-free menus are missing from Zojirushi's cheaper micom models and from the induction NP-HCC10.
Keep warm is the second strength. Automatic keep warm starts when cooking ends, extended keep warm holds at a lower temperature for longer stretches, and a reheat cycle brings cooled rice back to serving heat. Zojirushi's FAQ recommends 12 hours as the maximum, and Would I Buy It Again reports rice still fresh after half a day. Two delay-timer presets let you set the usual breakfast and dinner times once, the cord retracts into the body, and the pan has side handles that Reviewed singled out for safer removal.
Longevity is the third. It is made in Japan, and the owner reports Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker gathered put the working life at 10 to 15 years, with the nonstick coating showing wear after six to eight. The Toshiba and Cuckoo on our list draw coating complaints far sooner.
Where it falls short
Time. Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker lists about 45 minutes for white rice, 50 for sushi, 65 for mixed, 85 for brown and 25 on the quick menu; Reviewed timed white rice at about 50. That is the micom cycle doing its soak and rest, and the roundup's position is that the long cycle is what you are paying for. The Cuckoo CR-0655F's manual lists 35 to 53 minutes for white rice and 32 to 44 on turbo.
Menus. There is no GABA brown setting and no jasmine setting; both are on the NP-HCC10. Brown rice itself comes out well by Reviewed's account, but the two-hour warm soak that raises GABA is not available, and long-grain rice runs on the white menu.
Controls and clock. Reviewed found the panel unintuitive and said the buttons need a firm press. Would I Buy It Again adds that the clock battery is soldered to the board and typically fails after five to eight years, which disables the delay timer until it is serviced. The design has been left alone for a long time; that is part of why it is reliable and part of why it looks dated.
Zojirushi's own store showed the NS-ZCC10 out of stock on September 26, 2026. It remains a current catalog model carried by other retailers; check the model number on the listing, because Zojirushi sells cheaper micom cookers in a similar white body.
How it compares
Against the Zojirushi NP-HCC10, the induction model heats the pan itself with side and lid heaters at 1,230 watts, adds jasmine and GABA brown menus and a stainless inner lid, and Reviewed measured 60 minutes for brown rice against the 80 to 90 owners report here. It weighs 9 pounds, sits a price class higher and took five minutes longer on white rice in the same test. Daily short-grain cooks should consider it; everyone else gets most of the result here.
Against the Cuckoo CR-0655F, the Cuckoo is faster, has GABA brown and a steam auto-clean cycle, and makes stickier Korean-style rice; Mashable's 2022 test found the Zojirushi's grains less sticky. The Cuckoo is made in China, weighs 7 pounds and draws peeling reports on its coating.
Against the Toshiba TRCS01, the Toshiba gives fuzzy-logic control and a steamer basket for a price class less, with a plain heating-plate pot, fewer rice menus and a coating that one owner reported wearing within a year of heavy use.

Bottom line. Buy the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 if rice is a few-times-a-week dish, you cook mostly Japanese white or sushi rice, and you want the cooker owners keep for a decade. Buy the NP-HCC10 if you cook short-grain or jasmine daily, want the GABA brown soak, or will value the stainless inner lid and the more even brown rice enough to pay the induction premium.
Verdict
The NS-ZCC10 is the rice cooker to buy if you want the right answer rather than the fast one. It cooks Japanese short-grain and sushi rice consistently, keeps it warm properly and lasts. Skip it if half-hour rice or GABA brown are requirements; take the NP-HCC10 if you cook short-grain every day and can pay for induction.
