Who it's for

The NP-HCC10 is for the household where rice is on the table most days and the cook cares about the difference between good and even. It is the induction model in Zojirushi's non-pressure range, sold in the United States as the NP-HCC10XH in stainless dark gray, and it is the premium pick on our rice cooker list because it adds capability over the Neuro Fuzzy rather than a nicer body: heat from three directions, a jasmine menu, a GABA brown menu and a stainless inner lid.

It is not for the occasional cook, who will get the same style of rice from the NS-ZCC10 for a price class less, and it is not the machine for Korean mixed grains, which the Cuckoo is built around.

What stands out

Heating. A conventional micom cooker warms a plate that warms the pan. Induction runs current through a coil so the pan itself becomes the heat source, and Zojirushi adds heaters in the side wall and in the lid, which it calls a triple heater. The cooker draws 1,230 watts against the NS-ZCC10's 680, so it can change temperature faster and reach the rice from more than the bottom. Reviewed's October 2025 test describes evenly cooked rice in every batch, with a slight umami note in short-grain white; Steamy Kitchen's March 2025 review credits the all-around heat for fluffier rice without the crunchy patches a bottom heater can leave; and Sizzle and Sear's long-term review reports the same texture every time from a thick pot with a durable nonstick surface.

Menus. On top of the Neuro Fuzzy's white at regular, softer or harder texture, sushi, mixed, porridge, sweet and brown, the NP-HCC10 has a jasmine menu for long-grain rice and a GABA brown menu that, per Zojirushi's FAQ, soaks the rice at 104°F for two hours before cooking to raise its GABA content and soften the grain. It drops the semi-brown and rinse-free settings. A quick menu is there for weeknights; Steamy Kitchen puts it at about 20 minutes shorter than the standard white cycle.

Cleaning and keeping. The inner lid is detachable stainless steel and washes in the sink, which matters after porridge or brown rice; Steamy Kitchen says it pops out easily, and Sizzle and Sear lists the bowl, lid and filter as separately washable. Automatic keep warm switches on when cooking ends and extended keep warm holds at a lower temperature for longer stretches, within the 12 hours Zojirushi's FAQ recommends. Sizzle and Sear found it kept rice at a safe serving temperature for hours without drying or overcooking. Two delay-timer presets cover set-and-forget mornings, and the unit is made in Japan with a one-year limited warranty.

Where it falls short

Time. Reviewed measured 55 minutes for white rice and 60 for brown. The brown figure is quick for a non-pressure cooker, but the white figure is five minutes longer than the NS-ZCC10 in the same test, and Reviewed lists the cycle length among its drawbacks. The quick menu shortens it at some cost in texture, and the GABA menu is a three-hour-plus affair once the two-hour soak is added to the cook.

Size and draw. It weighs 9 pounds, measures 10 by 14 by 8 inches and pulls 1,230 watts, so it wants a permanent spot near an outlet. The 680-watt NS-ZCC10 is more frugal.

Price class. The Neuro Fuzzy makes rice of the same style with the same keep-warm design, and the owners in the Reddit roundup keep it for a decade. Induction is a refinement, not a different result, and a household that cooks rice twice a week will struggle to notice. Sizzle and Sear's only real reservation is the same: the price.

Stock. Zojirushi's own store showed the NP-HCC10 out of stock on September 26, 2026. It remains a current catalog model carried by other retailers; look for NP-HCC10XH on the listing.

How it compares

Against the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10, this model heats from three sides instead of one, adds jasmine and GABA brown and has the stainless inner lid, and Reviewed called its panel intuitive where the Neuro Fuzzy's needs a firm press; the NS-ZCC10 has semi-brown and rinse-free menus, a reheat cycle, a retractable cord, lower power draw and a lower price class. For daily short-grain, take this one; otherwise the Neuro Fuzzy.

Against the Cuckoo CR-0655F, the Cuckoo also has GABA brown, with an adjustable germination hold, and cooks faster, with a steam auto-clean cycle and stickier Korean-style rice, in a 7-pound, 580-watt body at a budget price class. It cannot match the induction heating, the stainless lid or the Japanese build.

Against the Toshiba TRCS01, the Toshiba is a budget heating-plate cooker with a steamer basket and no sushi, jasmine or GABA menu; it is a different tier entirely.

Bottom line. Buy the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10 if rice is a few-times-a-week dish, you cook mostly Japanese white or sushi rice, and you want the cooker owners keep for a decade. Buy the NP-HCC10 if you cook short-grain or jasmine daily, want the GABA brown soak, or will value the stainless inner lid and the more even brown rice enough to pay the induction premium.

Verdict

The NP-HCC10 is the best rice cooker on our list if you cook Japanese short-grain or jasmine every day and will use the GABA menu. Even heat, a stainless inner lid and a keep warm that works are the reasons to pay for it. If rice is a twice-a-week dish, the NS-ZCC10 delivers the same style for less.
