Cuckoo 6-Cup Micom Rice Cooker CR-0655F
Buy it for Korean-style sticky rice, mixed grains and an adjustable GABA brown menu at a budget price class, with a steam auto-clean cycle and cycle times that beat the Zojirushi's; Engadget's January 2026 guide names it best for most people. Accept a busy panel, a lid that springs open hard, water ratios that may need adjusting for short-grain and a shorter coating life.

Flaws to know
- Cuckoo's manual warns the nonstick coating wears with long use; Rice Cooker Advice collects owner reports of peeling and hard-to-find replacement pots

Who it's for
The CR-0655F is the cooker for a kitchen that makes Korean-style rice: glossy, slightly sticky white rice for bibimbap and banchan, japgokbap with barley or beans mixed in, and brown rice often enough that the GABA menu gets used. It is the non-pressure Cuckoo that Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker's Reddit roundup points Korean cooks to, and the model Engadget's January 2026 guide names the best rice cooker for most people. It is the mixed-grains pick on our rice cooker list.
It is not the cooker for someone chasing the separate-grain Japanese result, and it is not built to the decade-long standard of a Zojirushi.
What stands out
Menus. Cuckoo counts twelve: glutinous white rice, the everyday Korean setting, turbo, mixed or brown for grains cooked with rice, GABA, porridge, steam, baby food, multi-cook for soups and low-temperature cooking, auto-clean, My Mode, reheat and keep warm. My Mode shifts the texture toward softer or firmer. The GABA menu is the most flexible on our list: the manual suggests soaking brown rice for up to 16 hours first, then lets you set a warm germination hold of 0, 2, 4 or 6 hours before the cook; at zero it simply cooks brown rice.
Speed. Cuckoo's manual lists 35 to 53 minutes for white rice, 32 to 44 on turbo, 55 to 68 for mixed or brown, 83 to 91 for GABA after any hold, and 90 for porridge, against the 45 to 50 minutes for white and 80 to 90 for brown that owners report on the Neuro Fuzzy. Mashable's September 2022 test, republished by Cuckoo America, found it much faster than the Neuro Fuzzy, with rice that was slightly stickier but still had a solid texture.
Independent results. Engadget placed it among the best performers across white, brown and basmati, and particularly good with long-grain basmati; its white rice was best after half an hour on warm, and the brown rice wanted a little more time, which a custom My Mode cycle can supply. America's Test Kitchen's October 2025 test also got great long-grain white rice and liked that the timer counts down near the end of the cycle.
Cleaning and size. The auto-clean menu runs a steam cycle of about 25 minutes that loosens residue after multi-cook or porridge, the inner cover detaches with a lever, and a dew dish at the back collects rice water. At 580 watts it draws the least power of our four picks, it weighs 7 pounds, and there is no voice guide.
Where it falls short
Water and texture. ATK recommended it with reservations: short-grain white and brown rice came out a little wet at Cuckoo's recommended water ratios, so expect to adjust. Stickier is the point for Korean rice but the wrong point for sushi rice or a Japanese donburi, and the manual notes that the bottom layer can come out light yellow by design.
Lid, lines and panel. Engadget reports the lid springs open with enough force to rock the whole unit, so open it with a long oven mitt against the steam. Both testers flag the water lines: ATK found them hard to read because they are imprinted into the metal, and Engadget notes the recessed notches can trap starchy film. ATK also found the buttons hard to decipher, and Rice Cooker Advice summarizes owner complaints about the display, a confusing manual and water spewing during cooking.
Coating and build. The pot is aluminum with a fluorocarbon nonstick coating, and Cuckoo's own manual warns that the coating wears with long use; Rice Cooker Advice collects owner reports of peeling and of replacement pots being hard to find. It is made in China with a one-year warranty.
Limits. Usable capacity drops to two to four cups on turbo and mixed or brown, and one to one and a half on porridge. The preset timer is not available on turbo, or on GABA with a germination hold, the manual advises against keeping brown and mixed rice warm, and the chewy grain of Cuckoo's CRP pressure line is not on offer.
How it compares
Against the Zojirushi NS-ZCC10, the Zojirushi has the spherical pan, Japanese assembly, sushi and rinse-free menus, extended keep warm and a much longer coating life; the Cuckoo is faster, has GABA and auto-clean, and makes the stickier rice. Pick by cuisine.
Against the Zojirushi NP-HCC10, both have GABA brown, but the induction Zojirushi heats from three sides with a stainless inner lid, and Reviewed found its batches evenly cooked; it weighs 2 pounds more, draws more than twice the power and sits two price classes higher.
Against the Toshiba TRCS01, the Toshiba adds a steamer basket, a plainer panel and a 24-hour timer but lacks GABA, auto-clean and My Mode. Mixed grains and brown rice favor the Cuckoo; steamed vegetables over white rice, the Toshiba.
Verdict
The CR-0655F does what the Korean-cooking community buys it for: sticky, well-cooked rice and mixed grains, fast, with an adjustable GABA menu and a self-cleaning cycle, in a 7-pound body at a budget price class, and Engadget's tests back that up. Adjust the water for short-grain, open the lid with care and budget for a new pot eventually. If your rice is Korean or your brown rice is daily, it is the pick; if it is Japanese, look at the Neuro Fuzzy.
