Anker SOLIX EverFrost 2 58L Electric Cooler
The dual-zone fridge for campers who do not own a power station: two independent compartments and a battery in one wheeled box. It is heavy, and real-world runtime on one battery falls well short of Anker's claim.

At a glance
What stands out
- Two equal zones, each set anywhere from -4°F to 68°F, so one side can freeze while the other refrigerates
- A removable 288 Wh LFP battery with a second slot; Anker claims 39 hours on one battery and 78 on two in Eco mode
- Charges from AC, a car socket, 100 W of solar or USB-C, and the battery doubles as a power bank with 60 W USB-C
- 6-inch wheels and a fold-down tray that works as a pull handle, sized for grass and semi-rough ground
Flaws to know
- 63.7 lb empty; 9to5Toys notes it can pass 100 lb loaded
- With one zone freezing at 0°F and the lid opened now and then, 9to5Toys' drain rates pointed to about 20 hours in Eco mode from one battery, roughly half of Anker's claim
- No internal baskets or shelves, which makes a full box hard to organize, per 9to5Toys
- IPX3 only: light rain and splashes

Who it's for
The EverFrost 2 58L is for campers who want two things a single-zone fridge cannot give them: a freezer and a fridge running at the same time, and cold food with no power station and no vehicle running. It splits 58 liters into two equal compartments you can set independently. It carries its own removable 288 Wh LFP battery and rolls on 6-inch wheels.
It is the dual-zone pick on our list of the best 12V portable fridges. Think of it as a fridge and a small power station built into one box. That is the reason to buy it, and also the reason it is heavy.
What stands out
Two real zones. Anker lists each compartment at 10.95 x 12.28 x 13.65 in, so the split is even, and each side can be set anywhere from -4°F to 68°F. Frozen meat for the end of the week goes on one side and drinks and produce on the other. With one zone set to freeze, you do not need to dedicate the whole box to freezing, which is the problem with single-zone fridges on longer trips.
The battery. The included 288 Wh LFP pack slides out, charges separately, and doubles as a power bank with a 60 W USB-C port and a 12 W USB-A port. A second slot takes another battery. Anker claims 39 hours from one battery and 78 hours from two, measured empty, in Eco mode, at 77°F with a 39°F set point. The battery charges from the included AC adapter or car cable at up to 95 W, from a 100 W solar panel, or over USB-C. Anker quotes about 3.6 hours per battery on AC, car or solar and 5.5 hours on USB-C.
Cooling speed and modes. Anker's air-cooled design is rated to drop from 77°F to 32°F in 15 minutes in Max mode. 9to5Toys timed about 24 minutes, which is still quick. Eco mode turns the fan off to save power, Smart mode balances the two, and the app shows battery level, power in and power out.
Built to be moved. The 6-inch wheels and fold-down tray handle are what make a 63.7 lb box usable at all, and 9to5Toys describes them as suited to grass and semi-rough ground. There is an integrated bottle opener and an accessory rail that fits Anker's Road Trip Kit.
Where it falls short
Runtime in real use. This is the gap to plan around. 9to5Toys ran it indoors at 75 to 80°F with one zone at 0°F and the other at 39°F, and opened it a moderate amount. The drain rates pointed to about 11 hours from one battery in Max mode, 15 in Smart and 20 in Eco. Anker claims 39, but that figure is measured with an empty box at 77°F and a 39°F set point, with no freezer zone. A fridge that freezes on one side, gets opened and sits in the sun works harder. Plan on about one day per battery in summer. Buy the second battery, or keep it on the car socket while driving, if you want a full weekend off-grid. For comparison, The Gadgeteer got close to 51 hours in Eco mode from the single-zone 40L sibling, near that model's 52-hour claim.
Weight. Anker lists 63.7 lb empty, and 9to5Toys notes it can pass 100 lb loaded. The wheels help on the ground, not when lifting it into a tailgate. Load it in the vehicle first, then fill it.
Organization and sealing. 9to5Toys found no internal baskets or shelving, so a full box turns into a dig. The IPX3 rating covers light rain and splashes, not a downpour.
How it compares
The Dometic CFX5 45 with an EcoFlow RIVER 3 Plus is the alternative setup. The pair weighs about 51 lb against the Anker's 63.7 lb. The Dometic's measured 6.8 W draw lets the RIVER's 286 Wh go further, and the RIVER also runs a CPAP or charges laptops. What that pairing lacks is a second zone. If you already own a power station, it is the better buy. If you do not, the Anker is the simpler one.
The single-zone EverFrost 2 40L uses the same battery and is lighter: Anker lists 50.7 lb, and OutdoorGearLab and GearJunkie both weighed it with its battery at about 56 lb. OutdoorGearLab measured it at 5.8 W once cold, the lowest draw of any cooler it tested. Pick it over the 58L if you do not need a separate freezer.
The Dometic CFX5 55IM is the premium alternative with no battery. It has one zone plus an ice maker and better insulation, and it needs a vehicle battery or a power station.
Verdict
Buy the EverFrost 2 58L if you want a freezer and a fridge in one box and do not want to buy a separate power station. Plan on the second battery or on charging from the car. Skip it if you already own a 1 kWh station, need to lift the fridge often, or only need one zone. As a single purchase that covers dual-zone cooling and off-grid power, nothing else on our shortlist does both.
