INNO Wedge 660 Rooftop Cargo Box (11 cu ft)

The low-profile box to buy if you park in a garage or a parking structure and mostly carry skis, boards and soft bags. It holds 11 cu ft with 9.2 in of interior height, so bulky camping gear stays in the car.

At a glance

What stands out

  • 11 in tall on an 80 x 33 in footprint, the lowest of our picks; OutdoorGearLab's Best Overall Rooftop Box at 77 of 100
  • Dual-side opening with a lock on each side
  • 6 to 8 skis or 4 snowboards; about 182 cm maximum per OutdoorGearLab and BetterTrail
  • Memory Mount clamps remember the crossbar setting, so refitting takes minutes with no tools
  • Quiet: BetterTrail called it exceptionally quiet and gave it its Most Aerodynamic award; Switchback Travel's reviewer forgets it is up there

Flaws to know

  • 11 cu ft and 9.2 in interior height; a full 60 L pack or a camping mattress will not close under the lid
  • Lid needs a firm press at both ends to latch, and reviewers disagree on whether the key comes out with only one side latched
  • Glossy finish scuffs; the lid flexes
  • INNO's product page states no load limit, no max ski length and no crossbar spread; BetterTrail gives 24 to 39 in

Who it's for

The Wedge 660 answers the most common way people fail with a cargo box: they buy an 18 cu ft shell, mount it on an SUV and find that the garage door no longer clears. INNO's box is 11 in tall. Add a typical crossbar and it still sits several inches below where the Yakima SkyBox NX 18 (16.5 in) or the Thule Motion 3 XL (17 in) would put you. That is why it is the low-garage pick on our rooftop cargo box list.

It is for people whose cargo is long and flat: skis, snowboards, poles, duffels, sleeping bags, a folded tent. It is not for coolers, bins or a stuffed backpacking pack, because the interior is 9.2 in tall.

What stands out

INNO's product page lists 11 cu ft in an 80 x 33 x 11 in shell with a 72 x 25.6 x 9.2 in interior, a 42 lb weight, room for 6 to 8 skis or 4 snowboards, right-and-left opening, a Safety Key Lock system, a 12 in hatch clearance figure and a limited lifetime warranty. The shell is made by INNO's SPM injection process from a three-layer sheet, which the company says gives uniform wall thickness. The 72 in interior is the hard limit on ski length laid flat, about 183 cm; OutdoorGearLab and BetterTrail both quote 182 cm as the practical maximum, while Switchback Travel says 185 to 190 cm and Rack Warehouse lists 180 cm. BetterTrail loaded four adult ski setups without trouble.

Mounting is the feature reviewers keep coming back to. The Memory Mount clamps are adjusted to your crossbars once; after that you flip a lever to remove the box and snap it back on in the same position, no tools. OutdoorGearLab scored ease of use 8.5 out of 10 and gave the box its Editors' Choice award as Best Overall Rooftop Box, with 77 out of 100, second only to the Thule Motion 3 XL's 80 in raw score. Switchback Travel's reviewer, after eight months of rain, snow and hundreds of miles, reported no damage, a dry interior through heavy rain and no serious fuel penalty. BetterTrail measured the spread range at 24 to 39 in; Switchback notes the clamps take bars from 1 to 3.5 in wide and 0.75 to 1.38 in tall and need about 2 in of space between bar and roof.

Noise is the other strength. The wedge shape is low and tapered, BetterTrail called it exceptionally quiet and gave it the Most Aerodynamic award in its August 2026 roundup, and Switchback's reviewer wrote that they forget it is there.

Where it falls short

Volume, first. Eleven cubic feet is 7 less than the Yakima or Thule, and the 9.2 in interior height is what you actually notice. OutdoorGearLab could not fit a fully packed 60 L backpack; BetterTrail could not close the lid over a large camping mattress, had trouble with thick sleeping bags, and scored gear capacity 3 out of 5. Switchback's guide calls the interior height constricting.

The lid is thinner than the premium boxes'. Switchback describes it as somewhat flimsy and says closing takes a press at both ends; opening takes some effort too. The lock is where sources disagree: OutdoorGearLab and Switchback's review say the key will not come out until the box is closed and locked, Switchback's guide calls the mechanism picky, and BetterTrail found the key could be removed with only one latch secured and told readers to check all three latches. Treat it as a box you check by lifting both ends before you drive.

INNO's product page does not publish a load limit, a maximum ski length or a crossbar spread, so those figures come from reviewers and retailers; use your vehicle's roof rating as the ceiling and keep the load flat and forward. The glossy shell scuffs, as OutdoorGearLab notes. And the low profile is relative: BetterTrail measured a 14.5 in lid opening, so the lid still swings well up when open.

How it compares

Against the Yakima SkyBox NX 18: the Yakima holds 18 cu ft, takes skis to 195 cm and has a published 165 lb limit, at 16.5 in tall and in the same price class. If your garage clears it, the Yakima is the more versatile buy. If it does not, the INNO is the one that gets used.

Against the Thule Motion 3 XL: the Thule is the better box in every way except height and price class. Thule's own answer to the INNO is the Motion 3 XL Low, 14 in tall with 14 cu ft, which Switchback Travel names best overall; it costs a class more than the INNO and is still 3 in taller.

Against the SportRack Vista XL: the SportRack has more volume for bulky gear and opens from the rear; the INNO is 8 in lower, opens from both sides, carries skis and is built to stay on the car.

Verdict

Buy the Wedge 660 if the garage door or the parking structure decides for you and your loads are skis, boards and soft bags. It is quiet, quick to refit and held up over Switchback Travel's eight months of use. Accept that 9.2 in of interior height rules out bulky camping gear, press the lid down at both ends, and check both locks before you pull out.
