Who it's for
The Dome 2 is for a household of three or four that cooks a lot of flat food: wings, steaks, fish fillets, fries spread in one layer and frozen or homemade pizza. Its shape is the point. Instead of a tall bucket, it has a wide, shallow drawer with heaters above and below, so food cooks in one layer and browns on both sides. That is why it is the premium pick on our air fryer list.
It is not for a small kitchen or a small dishwasher, and it is the wrong shape for a whole chicken.
What stands out
Two heating elements. Most basket fryers heat only from the top and rely on the fan to reach the underside. The Dome 2 adds a lower element, and Typhur says that means less shaking and flipping. Reviewers agree on the practical effect: Tech Advisor's February 2026 review found pizzas came out with a crisp base and good browning on top, and noted that fries did not need shaking because they sit in a single layer. Homes & Gardens got golden fries with fluffy centers in about 15 minutes in its May 2025 test and called the results even.
Surface area. Typhur lists 139.5 square inches of cooking area, enough for a 12-inch pizza or, by Typhur's count, up to 32 wings at once. That is more usable floor than a 6-quart bucket basket offers, even though the stated volume is lower at 5.6 quarts.
Quiet operation. Typhur rates the Dome 2 at 51 dB and credits a brushless fan motor. Independent figures are higher but still low for this class: Tech Advisor measured around 59 to 60 dB, and Homes & Gardens listed quiet among its reasons to buy.
Self-cleaning. The Dome 2 has a high-heat cleaning cycle that Typhur says breaks down grease in the upper cavity, with a regular and a deep option started from the app or by holding buttons on the unit. Typhur suggests running it about once a month. Tech Advisor found it took a couple of hours and left only a wipe-down. The ceramic basket coating is described as PFAS-free, and Typhur lists the basket and removable parts as dishwasher safe.
App and warranty. The Typhur app adds custom programs, alerts and remote adjustments, but not remote start, which Typhur disables for safety. The warranty runs 18 months.
Where it falls short
Size. Typhur lists it at 19.7 inches wide, 15.6 deep and 10.3 tall, weighing about 20 pounds. It is low enough to fit under cabinets but takes up the width of a small microwave. Tech Advisor and Homes & Gardens both flag the footprint.
Height. The basket is only about 2.3 inches deep. The Air Fryer Insider notes that this rules out whole chickens, tall roasts and deep batches, and it is the main reason a family that roasts birds should look at a bucket basket or a dual-zone machine instead.
Cleaning in practice. Homes & Gardens found the basket and plate technically dishwasher safe but too large for a compact dishwasher, and awkward in a small sink. It also ran the two-hour deep clean and could not see much difference, calling the feature a gimmick. Your mileage will depend on how greasy your cooking is.
Single zone and price. There is one cooking zone, so two foods at different temperatures still means back-to-back cooking. And this is a premium-class appliance, well above the price of the other picks.
Model numbers. Typhur sells the Dome 2 as the AF03 in silver and black and as the newer AF05 in graphite gray, which adds fan-speed control in the app. Check which one a listing is for.
How it compares
Against the Cosori TurboBlaze, the Cosori is smaller, cheaper and deeper, has a two-year warranty and fits a whole chicken more easily, but heats only from the top and has no self-clean or app. For everyday fries and reheating, the Cosori is the better value; for pizza, wings and steaks in quantity, the Typhur.
Against the Ninja DZ401, the Ninja offers two independent 5-quart baskets for mains and sides at once, but is louder by the numbers in our sources and heats each basket only from above.
Verdict
The Dome 2 is the air fryer to buy if you want flat foods browned on both sides without shaking, a quiet fan and a cleaning cycle that reduces scrubbing, and you have the counter space. Its shallow basket, footprint and price keep it from being the right choice for most kitchens. For other options, browse the kitchen category.
